| Will ehomewatch send me an e-mail right out of the box? |
No, you must log into ehomewatch.com, select "My Settings", and update your settings first. Your complete update will be reflected in the second status e-mail you receive.
| Where do I find my username and password?
Your username and password have been provided on your packing slip and/or in an e-mail we sent you.
| When do I press the Update My System button on the bottom of the page? |
Only press the Update My System button on the bottom of the page, after you have made all your changes to each section. This is because the ehomewatch base units take significant time to process changes and if multiple "update my system" messages are sent to the base unit, it will take a significantly longer time, and possibly multiple connections, to complete this update process. Again, your system will run better if you send it ONE configuration email after all changes have been made. If you are at the same location as the system, you can accelerate the process by using the pushbutton menu to send a test message (immediately).
| How come my configuration changes haven't appeared in my most recent status e-mail report? |
Since changes are sent to your system via e-mail, the next time your system dials out to send a status, test, or alert report, it will also receive its new configuration. The e-mail you receive on that call will let you know that changes were received, but they will not actually take effect until the next time the system dials out. In other words, it takes the system two calls to make configuration changes -- one call to receive them, and then a second call for reporting to reflect the changes.

Log into the Control Center from the ehomewatch.com website, and click on Enter/Edit Base Station Configuration. Note: Turn of hourly updates after an alert is sent is a new feature we have added that allows you to shut off the hourly update feature which follows Alert reports. This feature is useful if you have been made aware of a situation (low or high temperature, for example) at your watched property, and are taking steps to resolve it and want to stop the influx of hourly alert reports. Once the situation has been properly dealt with, you may return to the Control Center and turn it back on.

| How long does it take for my system to be active? |
After a base station restart, your system will take up to 15 minutes to stabilize. However, if your base station has received reports from all its Satellites in less than 15 minutes, then your system is ready at that time. For example, let's say immediately after startup one satellite is detecting water and reports to the base but another has not reported as yet -- the system will wait to report the water problem until 15 minutes pass or all other satellites report successfully.
| Why might my satellite be reporting a higher temperature than the rooms feels? |
Base and satellite boxes are black and if in direct sunlight, will report very high temperatures, therefore, you may need to place them in a shaded area. Also, if they are located next to some appliance that gives off heat this will effect its readings.
| When I am using any 'pushbutton menu' mode on the base station, how do I get out of a mode?
When in radio test mode, ehomewatch is not monitoring your home, be sure that when you leave your system, it is in the rotating/revolving display mode in which it reports the status of each monitored part of your home, you should press the button again until the LCD is scrolling through the revolving display mode.
| When will I get an Instant Alert? |
Alerts are typically only minutes away, and occur for loss of power, water, temperature out of range, and motion, if you purchased a satellite with that feature. Alerts, which were nearly instantaneous in previous software versions, may take a bit longer to generate a call and an e-mail report because to save power, satellites report to their base stations periodically, and the base 'takes its temperature' every 10 minutes.
